At City Voices, we are committed to ending isolation and loneliness among individuals with serious mental health and substance use challenges. Our programs have been designed to foster an inclusive community of care, safety, and fun. Here’s a glimpse of the various initiatives we offer:
CITY VOICES SOCIAL MEDIA
- A digital initiative offering mental health, addiction, and healing content.
- Connects individuals through platforms like Facebook, YouTube, X, Tiktok, and Instagram.
- Provides a supportive digital community for diverse audiences.
- A haven of emotional support and stimulating discussions on various spiritual subjects.
- Features guest speakers to educate members on diverse perspectives.
- A valuable resource for exploring spirituality and connecting with spiritually-minded individuals.
- A support group for peer support workers and those interested in the field.
- Fosters positivity, emotional support, and personal growth.
- Expands networks and empowers members to excel in peer support work.
PIP (PEERS IN PERSON)
- Promotes social connection and outdoor experiences for individuals with mental health and/or addiction challenges.
- Encourages social interaction and personal growth through a variety of activities.
- Offers a safe and inclusive environment to improve well-being and build a sense of belonging.
- Establishes connections among our peers, fostering companionship that extend through phone calls, text messages, and various communication methods
- Strangers evolve into companions, and individuals acquire the ability to enhance their communication and interpersonal skills
- Ensures long-lasting, meaningful connections that transform lives.
FUN & EFFECTIVE EVENTS
- Kracking Up: A Night of Mental Health Comedy where folks destigmatize serious mental health challenges by making humor out of them
- Crazy Talented: A Variety Show where folks have all manner of entertaining acts from comedy to song and dance
- A Storytelling Masquerade where folks met other folks, many from the general public, and shared their stories from behind masks to maintain anonymity
- Tea with Gagan where we sip herbal teas, listen to the stories of Zen Buddhist monk Gagan and engage in basic kung fu energy exercises and meditation
- Barter Parties where community members bring items from home and exchange them with others, talk about their items, socialize, and go home with unexpected gifts
- Drum Circle – Where folks produce their individual rhythms and where every rhythm coalesce into the orchestral, collective rhythm
- Social Anxiety Mixer – Where folks with social anxiety are eased into socializing by our kind and caring volunteers
- Teach-a-Thon – Where community members form a circle and, one at a time, teach us something, anything, they know for five minutes
- Friendship: A Storytelling Event – Community members form a circle and each member has five minutes to share a story of friendship or an act of kindness that affected them deeply
- Black History Month Storytelling Circle – Hosted & moderated by people of color, panelists share views on identity, how they navigate the world, and what it means to be Black.

HEALING EXERCISE
Discover the profound benefits of practices such as Yoga, Tai Chi, Reiki, Qigong, meditation, stretching, and breathwork, offered in both indoor and outdoor settings. Our sessions, led by experienced practitioners, provide guidance suitable for all levels of expertise. Additionally, we occasionally feature enthusiastic instructors who may be less experienced but bring their passion and dedication to the practice. Join us as we cultivate inner balance, enhance vitality, and embrace a holistic approach to healing.
SELF-COMPASSION/SELF-LOVE EXERCISES
Embark on a transformative journey of self-compassion and self-love through a series of empowering exercises. Discover the healing power of touch, tapping, and gentle massages, targeting areas of tension and pain in our bodies. Learn to extend kindness to ourselves during the daily mental and emotional challenges we face. Embrace the concept of being our own best friend, as we recognize that no one spends more time with us than we do with ourselves. Join us in nurturing a deep sense of self-care and fostering a supportive relationship with ourselves, bringing healing and harmony into our lives.
